Bjelin restructures Ogulin 1 factory

2025-04-23 | pressrelease

Bjelin’s Ogulin 1 parquet factory, owned by the company since 2016, will undergo restructuring to support future growth. The focus will be on expanding wood veneer production using Woodura technology, a shift towards a more resource-efficient process that will primarily support the company’s upcoming furniture launch. The attached sawmill and pallet production will continue operations as usual.

“In response to market demands and to support our vision for more sustainable flooring and furniture production, we will increase our veneer production made with the ground-breaking Woodura technology,” says CEO Fredrik Alfredsson. “This means we will phase out our 1-strip, 3-strip and herringbone parquet production and reconstruct the Ogulin 1 factory.”

The parquet products have been especially appreciated. However, with both Woodura Planks and Woodura Herringbone now available, the company anticipates a shift towards these more resource-efficient and long-lasting alternatives. “For those who still prefer traditional parquet, we will continue to serve the market with parquet through an increased partnership with our Woodura partners,” says Fredrik Alfredsson.

The expansion of Woodura veneer is a strategic step forward. “We believe Woodura products represent the future,” says Fredrik Alfredsson. “The design possibilities and grading options are endless.” Beyond aesthetics, Woodura also brings significant environmental benefits. By maximising wood use and minimising waste, it requires only a tenth of the timber for the veneers compared to traditional methods – allowing for greater production while preserving more trees in the forest.

The restructuring is part of a broader strategy to adapt to evolving industry demands and secure long-term success. Bjelin is committed to a smooth transition and is actively implementing strategies to strengthen its market position and drive future growth in both the flooring and furniture segments.
